A 105-year old Winnipeg man captured another world record Friday evening, by swimming the backstroke for 50 metres at Pan Am Pool. This is the first time anyone this old had ever tried to do this.

Jaring Timmerman started swimming at the age of 79.

He has more than 160 medals for his swim races and meet-ups over the span of his swimming career.

In 2009, he broke four world records at the World Masters in Edmonton for swimming when he was 100 years old.
