Three tornadoes touched down in Manitoba Saturday, Environment Canada has confirmed.

The first one touched down around 1 p.m. in the Interlake on the west side of Lake Winnipegosis in the community of Waterhen. One person said they saw dust. Nothing was damaged.

The same system produced another tornado in the same area. This tornado retreated quickly back into the cloud.

Another tornado was spotted about 1 km southeast of La Salle around 7:30 p.m.

Funnel clouds were also spotted in parts of the province.

CTV viewers also spotted apparent funnel clouds near St. Norbert. They said the clouds came across a field and close to tree tops around 7:30 p.m., but did not touch down.

Funnel clouds were reported north of the Portage Diversion at 3 p.m. and another was reported south of Defrost at 8:15 p.m.

Environment Canada said in order to qualify as a tornado, the funnel cloud has to hit something or touch down.

There are currently no tornado warnings for Manitoba.
