RCMP have arrested eight people in connection to gun violence and drug trafficking in two Manitoba communities.

Between Oct. 18 and Oct. 20, police were deployed to the areas of Grand Rapids and Chemawawin seizing cocaine, marijuana, hash oil, trafficking paraphernalia, cash, cell phones and a stolen firearm.

Six adults and one youth were arrested and charged. One other person was arrested and is in police custody.

17 officers from Grand Rapids, Chemawawin, Emergency Response Team, Integrated Gang Intelligence Unit, The Pas Police Dog Service and the North District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team took part in the initiative.
