An 8-year-old boy battling severe Aplastic Anemia had every kid’s dream come true when he went on a three-minute, all you can grab shopping spree at Toys “R” Us in Winnipeg.

Victor ran through the aisles of the toy store Thursday, saying he was hoping to grab as many Nerf guns as possible. He ended up with four carts of toys.

“I’m more than happy, more than the luckiest kid in the world,” Victor said.

The toy dash came courtesy of the Starlight Children’s Foundation of Canada, which selects seven participants from across the country to grab all the toys they can in three minutes. All the kids chosen are seriously ill and were randomly selected from a contest earlier this year.

“This is a great opportunity for Victor. He’s such a fun kid and always full of energy and always likes to be silly, and this is just a great opportunity to grab toys and have a special day that’s all about him,” said Jessica Lizotte, a child life specialist who works with Victor through the Children’s Hospital.

Victor, who is from Whale Cove, Nunavut, was diagnosed with severe Aplastic Anemia two years ago and had to have a bone marrow transplant. Due to extreme complications, Victor’s kidneys failed and he is now on dialysis six days a week until he is able to have a kidney transplant.

In addition to the shopping spree, Starlight has also given Victor in-hospital entertainment to help him during his treatments.
