Growing up in Winnipeg, Andrea Slobodian grew up watching CTV News (back when it was called CKY).
Her career roots were planted at a young age, when her mother used to “shush” her to be quiet her every time a news or weather report came on the television or radio. Her longtime aspiration has been to work at the station, and so she jumped at the chance to move back home from Alberta in October 2012 to join CTV as Anchor of the 11:30 p.m. nightly news.
Andrea is a proud graduate of Red River College’s Creative Communications program and holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Winnipeg.
For more than a decade, she has held a variety of roles in television, radio and newspaper newsrooms across Western Canada, primarily in Winnipeg and Calgary.
You’ll occasionally see Andrea as fill-in News Anchor and Weather Anchor on CTV News at 6, as well as filing monthly Pet Ed segments with the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Outside work, she spends as much time as possible at the family cottage on Lake Winnipeg and is involved with events in Winnipeg’s Ukrainian community, such as the Ukraine-Kyiv Pavilion at Folklorama.
