Winnipeg police said a 44-year-old man has died after a motorcycle crash in the St. Boniface area Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle crash on Archibald and Messier streets around 12:30 a.m..

Police said the 44-year-old male driver was transported to hospital, where he has since died.

Police said the cause of the collision hasn’t been determined, but speed and lack of a helmet appear to be contributing factors.

All lanes of Archibald between Plinguet and Kavanagh streets were closed for several hours following the crash, but have since reopened.

An investigation is ongoing.
