RCMP say a fire at the Towers Hotel in Dauphin is being treated as an arson.
Crews arrived on Thursday to find a well-involved fire.
Terrance Guiboche, 30,of Swan River and Dauphin has been charged with arson.
He remains in custody while the investigation continues.
About 25 permanent tenants are displaced by the fire.
As the building came down, one cat also managed to escape. It was taken to a vet clinic in Dauphin.
