Kardinal Offichall, Shawn Desman,Hedley, and former UN high commissioner Mary Robinson are just some of the big names who joined a big group of students Wednesday for We Day Manitoba.

About 16,000 youth packed the MTS Centre for a series of educational talks and performances.

We Day travels through Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. this year. The event is aimed at inspiring youth to take action in their community own and abroad.

You can’t buy a ticket to We Day; young people earn them by taking on one local and one global action.

The long list of Manitoba’s guests includes social activists, performers, and the founders of We Day, Craig and Marc Kielburger.

“Today’s generation of young people – the Me to We generation – have the power to create and lead real systemic change through We Day, Canada’s national celebration of service,” said Craig Kielburger.

We Day is also connected to the year-long We Act program, which aims to provide youth with resources to turn their motivation into sustained action.
