The Winnipeg Blue Bombers made a surprise appearance at a varsity team’s football practice on Monday, delivering $10,000 and new equipment.

Bombers CEO Wade Miller matched a $5,000 donation made by the Winnipeg Football Club towards the replacement of the Oak Park High School varsity team’s football equipment.

“We were upset to hear about the equipment being destroyed, and we hope this will help them recover what was lost, while also strengthening the varsity football team,” said Wade Miller, president and CEO of the Bombers, in a release.

The team’s equipment was lost in a fire over the weekend and the club announced a $5,000 donation towards the replacement of it.

In addition to the monetary donations, one of the Bomber’s equipment suppliers, Gilman Football Gear, contributed $1,000 in equipment to ensure the team gets through the rest of their season.

Offensive linemen Stanley Bryant and Jermarcus Hardrick, running back Andrew Harris and kicker Justin Medlock delivered the news.
