David Asper has a new plan for a new Bombers football stadium.

The Winnipeg businessman made the announcement at the University of Manitoba Bisons football game Saturday.

He has signed a letter of intent with the university to build the new facility there.

Past plans for a Polo Park and a Point Douglas site have fallen though.

Asper says he's putting up at least $100 million and is looking for at least $20 million from the province and $15 million from the federal government, which is less than previous proposals.

Premier Doer says the new plan is much more doable.

The proposal includes plans for a stadium, an amateur sports bubble, and a fitness centre.

Some residents who live near the proposed new location worry about increased noise and traffic, but the city says it will study the possible impact of those factors before giving the plan its approval.

Apser plans to demolish the current stadium to make way for retail space.

He'd like the football team to be playing in the new facility by 2010.
