Brian Bowman wants to end what he calls patronage appointments at city hall.

Bowman says, if elected mayor of Winnipeg, he would let council elect all six members of the mayor's cabinet known as the executive policy committee.

Currently, all members of EPC are selected by the mayor.

Bowman says he would also reduce the top up pay for those councillors and the mayor, saving taxpayers $400,000 over four years.

Council recently passed a Sam Katz motion that would see three members of EPC elected and three appointed.
