Workplace Health and Safety is investigating after a Brandon man fell approximately 100 feet (30 metres) out of the tree he had been trimming when his safety harness failed.

Police were called to the scene around 11:54 a.m. on Friday.

The 49-year-old man was wearing a safety harness when he fell, but it snapped and he landed on the roof of a garage and rolled onto the concrete driveway. He was airlifted to hospital by STARS helicopter with injuries to his upper body and upper and lower extremities.

His current condition is not known.

Police said the man is self-employed with a tree care business in Brandon. All equipment was turned over to Workplace Health and Safety.
