Winnipeg police are seeking a suspect after a report of a woman sexually assaulted by a cab driver.
Around 5:40 a.m. on July 13, officers responded to the Transcona area for a report of a sexual assault that had occurred an hour earlier.
Officers met with an adult victim who said she had been out with friends at a nightclub located in the Windsor Park area on Elizabeth Road.
The victim later left the club and tripped while walking outside.
A male cab driver helped the victim up and placed her in his cab, said police.
The victim asked to be driven to a specific location.
The driver started kissing her and then drove to a different location, heading to Day Street near Thom Avenue East where a sexual assault occurred, said police.
The victim was injured, police said.
She was then driven to a residence and police were called.
The suspect is described as South Asian in appearance, in his 20s, about five feet six inches to five feet seven inches tall (168 – 170 cm), with a thin build. The suspect had tall/high hair, said police.
He had an average build, and may have a recent scratch caused by the victim during the assault. He wore jeans and a t-shirt.
Police said the suspect drove a silver Toyota Prius.
Officers said they're working with taxi companies to help identify a suspect.
