The Canadian Centre for Child Protection is marking its fifth annual awareness day for Cybertip.ca, a tip line used for reporting online sexual exploitation of children.

The centre is encouraging Canadians to protect children from offenders by taking action and reporting concerning online behaviour.

“What we’re trying to do is focus in on Canadians’ efforts to disrupt, interrupt that process so that we’re tackling this issue before the abuse is recorded and uploaded to the internet, which is the tail end of what we see as the national tip line,” said Signy Arnason, director of Cybertip.ca.

Arnason said the campaign targets all adults.

“All adults have a responsibility to protect children and to protect children from abuse,” she said.

Per month an average of more than 3,300 reports are made on Cybertip.ca, according to a release.

The Canadian Centre is encouraging parents and adults to visit Cybertip.ca.
