Winnipeg police said they've arrested a wanted suspect after a stabbing that claimed the life of Darryl Arthur Abraham, 36, last month.

Officers and emergency crews responded around 5 a.m. on Aug. 22 to the first 100 block of Donwood Drive.

Abraham was found suffering from stab wounds and was rushed to hospital in critical condition. He later died from injuries.

Police said George Alan Guimond, 35, was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for manslaughter.

On Sept. 8, Guimond was located and arrested in downtown Winnipeg by members of the homicide unit.

"It has been learned that after the incident a fare, along with a bike, was picked up in the area and later dropped off in the Dufferin area of the North End. Investigators are attempting to identify the cab and/or its’ driver," said police in a statement.
