The David Foster Foundation Miracle Gala and Concert in Winnipeg raised $3.2 million for kids receiving organ transplants and their families.

A red-carpet event was held to help ease the burden for families whose children receiving pediatric organ transplants.

The event - hosted by 16-time Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter David Foster - draws celebrities, entertainers, business and community leaders.

“We provide support for the non-medical expenses for families of children undergoing transplants, so these families can focus on what really matters – looking after their child,” said the David Foster Foundation’s website.

This is the first time the event has come to Winnipeg. "We're so happy to be in Winnipeg," Foster told CTV's Jon Hendricks on the red carpet Saturday.

Some of the performers included Seal, Carly Rae Jepsen, and The Tenors. "Seal actually came to one of our functions in Calgary, years ago," Foster said. "So he's back with the Foster Foundation for the second time and we're so happy that he's here."

The site said that in the past 28 years, the foundation provided millions of dollars in direct support to close to 1,000 families.

Celebrities enjoy working with Foster

The event brought together several artists who have worked with Foster, and they sang his praises on the red carpet prior to the start of the show.

"I think David brings out the best in people. I certainly, I felt that I became a better musician and a better artist after having the good fortune to work with David," said singer Seal.

"When we met David Foster, probably about seven years ago now, it was a career-changer for us," said Fraser Walters of The Tenors. "That first phone call we got, we couldn't believe it was him, we had to double check, in fact."
