Winnipeg City Hall is asking residents for a potential Christmas tree donation.

The city is inviting homeowners with large spruce trees to contact them if they’re interested in donating a tree for city hall’s annual Christmas tree display.

In a release, the city said it has received information about a number of potential trees, but none of them have met the requirements.

The city hall Christmas tree must abide to these criteria:

- The tree must be located in the front yard of a property and must be accessible.

- The tree must be 12 to 15 metres tall (roughly 40 to 50 feet).

- The tree must be fully symmetrical with a single trunk and no brown needles.

The city said the tree donor will not receive compensation, but crews will remove the tree from the homeowner’s yard, remove the stump, and clean up the debris at no cost.

Homeowners who wish to submit a tree for consideration can call 311 or email 311@winnipeg.ca

More information is available on the city’s website.
