The City of Winnipeg is getting ready for the arrival of self-driving cars.
A special meeting of the Riel Community Committee voted to have staff study the impact of the new technology.
The motion was championed by St. Boniface City Councillor Matt Allard. Allard said the vehicles will be on city streets in a matter of years, and said Winnipeg needs to prepare for them.
He predicts the self-driving technology will affect emergency services, developments and road planning.
