The flood fight in southwestern Manitoba has shifted to clean up efforts.

As water levels start to drop, communities along the Assiniboine River are now focusing on rebuilding what was lost.

Three weeks ago, some Virden streets were closed as water from a swollen creek threatened homes.

Wendy Flannigan delivered aid to many throughout the area and said people are extremely stressed out.

“It's devastating for these people,” said Flannigan.

A temporary Disaster Financial Assistance Recovery office is set up Brandon at 1601 Van Horne Ave East and is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
