Winnipeg West End business owners hosted their 7th annual Christmas Eve Feast for area residents. Guests included new Canadians, international students and other local residents who may have needed a bit of a boost at this time of year.

Each guest received a gift, food hamper and other items such as warm clothing, toiletries and toys for children.

The lunch-time meal with live musical entertainment was hosted by Sons of Italy, West End BIZ, X-Cues Billiards & Cafe and Sorrento’s on Ellice, and took place at X-Cues on Sargent Avenue.

Siloam Mission also hosted its annual Christmas dinner today. Hundreds of people enjoyed a traditional turkey meal with all the trimmings. Guests helped decorate the drop-in centre to give it a festive feel.

Siloam Mission serves meals every day, but the organization's executive director says they want to make Christmas extra special. Guests received stocking stuffed with treats and hygiene items. On Christmas morning, people staying in the overnight shelter will wake up to a backpack of goodies beside their beds.
