A city councillor is worried a plan to transform Winnipeg riverfront property could be in jeopardy.

Matt Allard is urging the city to find funding for the $4.4 million Tache Promenade project.

It includes a $1 million Winnipeg Foundation donation for a treetop observation structure on the banks of the Red River, near the Esplanade Riel.

Allard said that donation won't be on the table forever and says only $700,000 has been identified from city coffers.

He wants money from a projected $2 million land sale nearby diverted to the promenade plan.

Allard said he is also asking for a meeting with Premier Greg Selinger, who is also the MLA for the area, to talk funding.
