Councillors want room made for taxi and Handi-Transit

Two city councillors have a planned to speed up cab service in Winnipeg.

Ross Eadie and Russ Wyatt are calling for a pilot project, allowing taxi and Handi-Transit to use diamond lanes.

Under the plan, no pick up or drop off service would be permitted in diamond lanes during operational hours of the corridors.

The Downtown Graham Avenue bus stretch would be off limits.

Eadie and Wyatt said bus drivers, transit inspectors and police could report abuses of the diamond lanes during the pilot.
