Access Winnipeg West will remain closed for at least three months due to an early January flood.

A pipe froze and burst on the third floor of Access Winnipeg West at 280 Booth Drive on Jan. 4.

An investigation found four pipes burst on the third floor, after a maintenance hatch became ajar, letting in cold air.

Damage costs are estimated at $5 million. Renovation work is underway to repair drywall, flooring, lighting and ceiling tiles.

Access Winnipeg West will be closed for another three to five months while work takes place.

In the meantime, about 100 to 125 clients who visit the facility and daycare daily are being accommodated at other centres.
