Damage from Maryland fire estimated at $300,000; several residents escape blaze

Winnipeg police said damage is estimated at $300,000 after a blaze tore through a home in the 600 block of Maryland Street on Jan. 14.
Police temporarily closed Maryland between Notre Dame Avenue and Sargent Avenue while fire crews battled the blaze, which was reported around 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Several residents managed to escape the residence. No injuries were reported, said police.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
