A dog left partially blind after suffering abuse, has a new home and a new family to take care of him.

Percy was just a six month old puppy when he was subject to extreme abuse.

In February, the border-collie-jack-russell cross was surrendered to Manitoba Underdogs after a previous owner had rubbed hair dye into his eyes.

On Thursday afternoon, the pup was out playing fetch with his new family.

The shelter said it had an overwhelming amount of prospective adopters.

In the end, one of Percy’s foster families decided to make him a permanent member.

"He is a very high energy dog, who was looking for a job. I like to do scent detection and work like that with dogs and he's a prime candidate. And also, he just really fit into the family, so why move him again," said his new owner, Jessica Thompson.
