Four-legged friends have a new place to play as a doggy playground opens up in Niverville.

Saturday marked the grand opening of the dog park in Manitoba.

Barry Piasta came up with the idea last year.

“I wanted to create something out here in the community and since I work with rescues I figured we’d do something like a park, but I didn’t want it to be like any other park,” he said.

The park features 11 agility-testing stations for dogs and their owners to master.

The bad weather couldn’t put a damper on the day for doggies and their owners.

“At one point, there were over 40 dogs at the dog park,” said Piasta. “I would say around 200 people and their pets came, and they’re still coming in.”

Money for the park came from fundraisers and from Dog Adoption MB.

Piasta said the dog park is like no other and is a dream come true.
