Several organizations in the North End are banding together to help those affected by a fire in a Manitoba Housing complex on Dufferin Ave.

North End Community Renewal Corporation is spearheading the donation drive. Dale Harik with NECRC said that the Bear Clan and Dufferin Residents Association contacted him with the idea.

Harik said that about seven families with 15 children are without a home after the fire.

He said there has already been an outpouring of support from the community.

The donation drive accepts clothes, blankets and furnitures for the families.

But Harik said it's cash they need most. He said that will help those affected by the fire fill financial gaps as they find a new place to live.

Three organizations are accepting three kinds of donations for the fire victims.

NECRC is accepting clothes, blankets and household items at their office at 509 Selkirk Avenue.

The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is accepting cash donations and can provide charitable receipts.

Furniture donations can be dropped off to Oyate Tipi Cumini Yape
