The driver in a deadly 2010 Halloween crash on Bishop Grandin has pleaded guilty.

On Oct. 31, 2010, the accused teen was driving along Bishop Grandin Boulevard, going 20 kilometres over the speed limit. She had just left a party. Her car was set on cruise control while she was intoxicated and was on the phone texting and driving, said the Crown.

The 17-year-old girl, who can’t be named because of her age at the time, went through a red light at St. Mary’s Road, and hit a car filled with five people.

Her blood-alcohol level was between 0.07 and 0.12, court heard.

At the time, the accused had a graduated license, meaning she wasn’t allowed to drive with any level of alcohol in her blood.

On Monday in court, she pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal negligence causing death, and two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

17-year-old Amutha Subramaniam and 19-year-old Senhit Mehari died in the crash.

18-year-old Lysbeth Arthur and 18-year-old Yohanna Asghedom were seriously hurt.

A fifth passenger suffered minor injuries and no charges were laid for those injuries.

The Crown wants to see the accused sentenced as an adult.

Because the accused pleaded guilty, there will be no trial.

A court date for Nov. 12, 2014 has been set, to determine if she will be sentenced as an adult or youth.
