RCMP have laid charges against a driver for a collision on Highway 3 that killed multiple people in the winter.

On January 4, RCMP were called to a head-on collision near Sanford.

A 64-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, while two women, age 20 and 21, died later in hospital, said officers.

The 64-year-old had been in a Nissan pickup, while the two women were passengers in a Chrysler Sebring.

RCMP said the driver of the Sebring, Clarke Gordon Harding, 31, of Winnipeg was charged on June 25 with three counts of criminal negligence causing death, three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and three counts of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

His next court appearance has been set for July 25.
