EDMONTON - The parents of a nine-year-old boy killed in a plane crash in 2013 say they are thankful someone returned a stolen cross necklace that holds the ashes of their child.

David and Crystal Pentecost just moved to Edmonton from Manitoba three weeks ago.

Earlier this month a man broke into their pickup truck and stole the necklace and loose change.

The necklace is a cremation pendant, which contains Dawson Pentecost's remains in a gold and silver cross with five crystals, and hangs on a silver chain.

Police say someone who wishes to remain anonymous turned in the pendant, which was damaged, and is to be repaired by an Edmonton funeral home at no cost to the family.

On Feb. 10, 2013, Dawson went for his first plane ride with Darren Spence, an experienced crop duster, and his two sons, Logan, 9, and Gage, 10.
