Fatal hit-and-run case sees charge laid against driver

The Winnipeg Police Service has made an arrest in the death of 22-year-old Chris Nero.

On May 2 around 11:30 p.m., Nero was crossing the intersection of Inkster Avenue and Bunting Street when he was hit by a vehicle.

The driver fled the scene.  

Nero old was found unconscious and taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police say officers located and arrested the suspect without incident on May 20.

A 75-year-old Winnipeg man is facing a charge of failure to stop at scene of accident involving death.

He was released from police custody on a promise to appear.
