Fire breaks out in Salter Street food market, causes $40,000 damage

Fire crews quickly extinguished a blaze in a Salter Street food market Sunday evening.

Around 4 p.m. fire fighters rushed to Aberdeen Avenue and Salter for reports of a fire in Salter Fresh Foods Plus.

Despite being extinguished quickly, the fire caused $40,000 to the business.

Fire officials believe the fire was accidental and began in the business’ deep fryer.
