Firefighters were alerted to a fire at École Sacré-Coeur shortly before 7:00 p.m. Friday evening, just a few hours after classes wound up for the winter break.

A caretaker met crews outside and said there was a fire in the music room.

“They found the music room well-involved in fire,” said Platoon Chief Morris Semkowski. “They quickly extinguished it but there’s extensive damage.”

The caretaker went to hospital as a precaution and firefighters continue to investigate.
