The search for further remains of a little girl on the Garden Hill First Nation continues.

But as the community struggles to find answers, education on the reserve is on hold.

A band councillor from Garden Hill said they had to close both the elementary and high schools after the partial remains of 11-year-old Teresa Robinson were discovered nearly two weeks ago. RCMP said they’re treating the case as a homicide, but haven’t announced any arrests.

The councillor said the community is too busy dealing with tragedy and trauma of the situation and doesn't know when, or if, kids will back in class this year.

About 500 children go to school in Garden Hill.

The community held a prayer circle on Thursday where the girl's partial remains were initially found.

The community continues to search the area, with help from volunteers from other communities.
