About 15 permanent residences and several cottages in Delta Beach received mandatory evacuation notices Sunday.
Duke Andrich told CTV News that he received a hand delivered letter from the RM of Portage la Prairie indicating that he, along with almost all residents west of Highway 240, had to leave the area.
Andrich said the letter warned that part of the Portage Diversion may burst and flood the marsh behind their homes.
According to Andrich, the water at his place is already 15 centimetres higher than it was during the flood of 2011.
