Winnipeg police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a mid-afternoon shooting in Fort Rouge on Tuesday.

The unnamed victim, also 21, went to hospital in critical condition.

Police did not have an update on his condition Wednesday.

According to police, the shooting appears to have been targeted and investigators are looking into the possibility it was gang related.

Tactical officers swarmed the suspect's vehicle and made the arrest in St. Boniface shortly after the shooting.

Gage Alexander Hale of Winnipeg faces charges for attempted murder and firearms-related offences.
