Winnipeg’s 27th annual Fringe Theatre Festival fired things up on Wednesday.

A total of 30 venues throughout the city will showcase comedy, drama, music, dance, improv and some unique productions that don't fit into any category. Tickets generally range from $5 to $10.

From noon to midnight each day, Old Market Square will showcase live music with bands and street performers.

Winnipeg is home to North America's second-largest Fringe Fest, following after one in Edmonton.

The festival runs until July 27.
