A suspect attacked a 12-year-old girl walking to school on Worth Street in the Weston neighbourhood.

Police responded on Jan. 16 shortly after 9:30 a.m. to the area of Lincoln Avenue and Worth Street.

A male suspect had called out to the girl. She continued walking but the suspect grabbed her from behind and pulled her into a lane, where he physically assaulted her, said police.

Officers said the male was armed with a weapon.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Several units responded after receiving the report of the child attacked, but the suspect could not be located.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 30 to 40 years old, standing six feet (183 cm) tall with a skinny build, short dark hair and a deep voice.

He was wearing black, baggy sweat pants, a black zip-up hooded sweater and a black ski mask.
