On Oct. 11, at about 2:00 a.m. a girl was confronted by an unknown man.

The 16-year-old girl was out with her friends early Sunday morning when she stopped at a fast food restaurant on Notre Dame Avenue near McPhillips Street to use the washroom.

Police said she was attempting to catch up with her friends when she was confronted by the unknown man wearing a ski mask and gloves. He pushed her to the ground in the lane between Burnell Street and Banning Street, and began to seriously sexually assault her.

Police said the victim managed to break free and ran home. They were notified and met with the victim and her family.

The girl was transported to hospital for further examination as she sustained minor injuries.

Police said the suspect is described as a man with a heavy build, a potbelly, approximately 5’10 – 6’ feet tall(177 cm – 183 cm), wearing dark jeans, a ski mask and gloves.
