Losing something you take pride in can be devastating, as it was for one woman who had traditional jewelry stolen from her car.

But getting it back can be just as emotional, said Tabetha Linklater.

She posted information about her ordeal on Facebook and found support and help she wasn’t expecting.

"Hi everyone. I'm Tabetha Linklater. We have five sets of beadwork that was stolen from my vehicle,” Linklater said in cellphone video she shot and posted on social media last week.

She was heartbroken and discouraged and asking for help to find beaded regalia her husband had just finished making.

Traditional jewelry that can take weeks or months to bead by hand that is worn by dancers at powwows.

"I think I was really numb. I was kind of shocked that all five of them (were gone). I was thinking all that hard work and you know it's just gone," said Linklater.

The young working mom was hoping to sell the pieces worth up to $3,000 to people who'd value them.

Four days after posting the information on Facebook about the missing pieces and not knowing if she'd ever see them again, Linklater got a call from someone At Cree-Ations & Artist Showcase on Main Street, saying they found the pieces.

Linklater immediately drove to the Main Street store to see if it was true.

"I was going in there really shaky but super excited and when I laid them all out and all the pieces were there, it was really good," said Linklater of Caribou Designs.

She couldn't stop thanking the shop owner who got them back for her.

Keith Proulx recognized the pieces from the Facebook posts and told staff to take them from a woman who was trying to sell them to his store.

"Things go missing all the time and I know how much it hurts to lose something that you worked so hard to create that piece of art and just gone like that - that hurts," said Proulx, owner of Cree-Ations & Artist Showcase.

Elated now, Linklater has already sold most of the pieces.

But more importantly, she's glad to see complete strangers are so willing to help those who need it.

Linklater said she did call police about the stolen pieces too and is told officers are still investigating the theft.
