Group calling for off-leash dog park in the North End

A group of Winnipeg dog owners hopes the city will help create a dog park in the North End.

The ‘Friends of a North End Dog Park’ met with City Councillor Mike Pagtakhan and presented a proposal to convert the old exhibition grounds of Dufferin Avenue into an off-leash dog park.

So far, the group has collected 1,100 signatures on a petition. The say residents in the North End don’t have enough access to dog parks.

A city committee discussed the idea during a meeting Tuesday.
