A suspect faces 19 charges, including impaired driving, for a fatal crash that killed a 20-year-old woman on Oct. 9, east of St. Claude on Highway 2.

RCMP officers received reports of a suspected impaired driver in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in southwestern Manitoba.

Police said they located the suspect's vehicle at a gas station in St. Claude, but when they tried to stop it, the suspect fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

An RCMP cruiser followed the suspect, but ended the chase because of the excessive speed of the suspect vehicle.

RCMP said the suspect's vehicle was then involved in the head-on collision that killed a 20-year-old woman.

Police said the woman, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Manuel Britney Cowley, 27, from Winnipeg faces multiple charges, including impaired driving causing death, flight from police causing death and breach of probation, including that he abstain from alcohol.
