Headingley residents gathered Thursday night to speak with the engineering group in charge of licensing a proposed hazardous waste terminal.

The site, approved by town council, is set to be located near Wilkes Road off Hall Road.

People who live in the area worry it could affect Headingley's air and water quality and endanger the community's future health.

True Grit Consulting Ltd. is the engineering firm in charge of getting licensing for the facility.

It wants to answer people's questions and concerns about the project.

"The facility will be brand new, there will be all new equipment, and there are 2016 standards that the facility must meet to mitigate those kinds of concerns," said project manager Paula Sdao.

The site is set to include a tank farm which will store up to 120,000 litres of waste, like motor oil, anti-freeze, and windshield washer fluid.
