Get out your shorts, water bottles, and sunblock because extreme heat and humidity is expected to blanket southern Manitoba this week.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Tuesday, as daytime temperatures are expected to hit the 30-degree mark and even hotter in some areas.

The southwestern areas of the province could even hit the 40-degree mark as early as Tuesday afternoon.

The hot air mass bringing the extreme conditions is expected to build up over the week, and bring with it the hottest temperatures on Wednesday and into Thursday.

Overnight there won’t be much relief as lows are only expected to drop to the 20-degree mark.

Environment Canada expects to issue extreme heat warnings as the weather becomes more intense.
