Impaired driving charge laid in death of cyclist struck by car on Regent Avenue

Charges have been laid after a man riding a bicycle was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a car.
Thirty-two-year-old Jesse Coutu of Winnipeg has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre and has been charged with impaired driving causing death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death.
The name of the deceased man will not be released. Police said he was hit by a vehicle just after 4 a.m. near Regent Avenue West and Brewster Street. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries.
Winnipeg police closed a portion of Regent Avenue West Sunday morning following a serious crash.
Investigators taped off an area of Regent Avenue West Saturday following a serious motor vehicle accident. The area was closed to traffic.
