Defenceman, Jacob Trouba has asked the Winnipeg Jets for a trade, and informed them he will not be attending training camp.

In a press release on Saturday night, his agent, Kurt Overhardt stated that there have been no negotiations between the restricted free agent and the hockey club's management for months.

He revealed that Trouba requested that the team try to move him back in May, if their plans had him playing on the left hand side, this season.

The 22-year-old said his decision has nothing to do with the city or money, it's about the opportunity to reach his potential.

The Jets issued a statement in response. General Manager, Kevin Cheveldayoff says without a contract, the club cannot force Trouba to attend training camp, but that they still believe the right handed blue liner fits into their future plans, and that he will continue to do what's best for the hockey club.
