A Winnipeg Jets fan is donating his playoff tickets to a seven-year-old battling cancer.

Alyx Delaloye captured Winnipegger’s hearts in February when she was featured on the Jumbotron at a Jets game holding a sign that read “Chemo by day, Jets by night.”

Alyx became an instant fan favourite, inspiring Winnipeggers and the Jets themselves.

When season ticket holder, Randy Allen, couldn’t make one of the playoff games, he knew exactly where he wanted his tickets to go.

“I thought it would be a nice thing to make sure that she at least gets to one playoff game,” said Allen.

Allen donated his two tickets to Alyx and her mom for game four in Winnipeg. He said the whole family deserved a break from the stress of their situation.

Alyx’s mother, Jody Delaloye, said the tickets provided a bright spot in a bad time. Right after Allen contacted the family about the seats, they received some bad news about Alyx.

"Unfortunately treatments aren't going as smoothly as we hoped they would. And I think just getting her out and having a good time will help put a smile on her face and get my mind off of things," said Delaloye.

She said Alyx’s sickness is taking it’s toll on the whole family, but the community’s support provides some relief.

Alyx and her mom will see the Jets square off against the Anaheim Ducks on April 22nd at the MTS Centre.
