Two local divers will have the home pool-advantage this weekend as the 2014 National Championships are held at the Pan Am Pool. They’re competing for a spot on the podium and on team Canada for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Winnipeg's Aimee Harrison learned to dive at the pan am pool.  She is hoping that a good performance at the last nationals and a hometown crowd will help her performance.

"For winters in 2013 I actually did really well here so I’m hoping to transfer that over and use the crowd's energy and do well again," said Harrison.

Fellow Manitoban diver, Cam McLean will compete as well.

"Canada's diving program is doing pretty well. We've got a lot of great talent here. We've got a lot of Olympians and world series medalists and to have everyone in Winnipeg at an event like this is great," said McLean.

Medalists at the London Olympics Meaghan Benfeito, Roseline Filion and Jennifer Abel will all be vying for national glory.

Events run from 10 am to 6 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
