Police say Robert Groen, who was charged in connection with the abduction of Abby and Dominic Maryk, is now in custody in Winnipeg.

Groen was returned to Canada on July 19, escorted by Mexican officials.  In Toronto, he was turned over to RCMP who escorted him to Winnipeg the next day. He is now in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

Groen was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit the indictable offence of abduction, said Winnipeg police.  An outstanding warrant was also executed upon his arrival in Winnipeg.

Abby and Dominic Maryk vanished in August 2008 after their father failed to return them from a visit.

They were reunited with their mother in May of this year after being tracked to a house in Mexico.

It's not known when Kevin Maryk will be returned to Winnipeg to face charges.

A third suspect, Cody McKay, remains at large.
