Winnipeg police said a man was assaulted twice after attempting to meet with a woman who he was communicating with online.

Police said the two were chatting online shortly after midnight on Monday morning. They said the man made arrangements to meet the woman at a home in the first 100 block of Tyndall Avenue.

After entering the home, police said the man was assaulted by a number of people and robbed.

Officers said the victim was able to escape the home, but was pursued and attacked a second time near Burrows Avenue. He was able to escape once more, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries to his upper body, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can contact police at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
